Langston Grandfather Clocks 611-017

These traditional Howard Miller Langston grandfather clocks 611-017 have a stately appeal and are finished in Windsor Cherry on select hardwoods and veneers.  The graceful split pediment features a turned finial, and a rare bookmatched olive ash burl overlay with a decorative shell overlay in the center.

The polished brass-finished dial offers elaborate corner spandrels, center disk, and a silver chapter ring with applied brass Arabic numerals.

A lamp behind the dial illuminates the pierced astrological blue moon phase, for a delightful twinkling star effect.  Our staff loves moon dials on grandfather clocks because they are such a functional accent.

A decorative olive ash burl pattern on the inside back panel is illuminated by the interior light.

Polished brass-finished weight shells and pendulum with a center disk that complements the dial.  The pendulum is an important part of the clock and helps regulate the speed.  Similarly, the weights are also an important part and are what power the clock.  The middle weight powers the time and the pendulum.  The left weight (as you're facing the clock) powers the hour strikes.  Lastly, the right weight (as you're facing the clock) powers the quarter chimes. We've written an article on how clocks work for some more interesting information.

Reeded columns with turned top and bottom caps flank the door. The sculpted base offers a decorative cut-out.

The lower door panel features bookmatched olive ash burl overlays in the corners that frame the crystal cut v-grooved glass.

Removable glass upper side panels allow easy access to the movement.  Our staff loves double-door designs, and we love having easy access to the movement because it is helpful for maintenance.
