Description
These German one-day musical cuckoo clocks feature a man chopping a log and a moving waterwheel. Beneath the shingled roof, you'll find several hand-made figurines, including a dog and a deer. On the top of every hour and on the half-hour, the woodchopper chops wood, and the waterwheel turns. Also plays music on the hour & half-hour, alternating between two different twenty-two-note melodies: Edelweiss & The Happy Wanderer.
Three cast iron pinecone weights are suspended beneath the clock case by three separate brass chains. The handmade pendulum continuously swings back and forth, which controls the timing of the clock.
Cuckoo bird calls out the half-hour and counts the hours. Sound shut-off device disables the cuckoo bird's calls, the woodchopper, waterwheel, and the music.
The 30-hour mechanical German Regula movement in these cuckoo clocks is wound once per day by raising the three pinecone weights. One weight powers the time, one weight powers the music, and the other weight powers the cuckoo bird and cuckoo call, woodchopper, and waterwheel.
Great effort has been made to portray each of these cuckoo clocks as accurately as possible. As with many handmade items, the exact coloration and carving may vary slightly from clock to clock. We consider this to be a special part of their character.
One-day cuckoo clocks are heirloom timepieces, and our Gift of Time Clocks' online cuckoo shop is proud to present them. Indeed, we love showing them to our guests and customers in our showroom.
