Description
Chimes quarter-hours & strikes the hours.
Heirloom-style traditional Howard Miller Hamlin grandfather clocks 611-025, with a distressed finish, designed by Chris Bergelin.
Rustic Cherry finish on select hardwoods and veneers is heavily distressed with deep dents, gouges, and worm holes for an aged appearance. Our staff feels the aged appearance gives these grandfather clocks a lot of charm.
A carved shell and leaf design draws the eye up to the arched pediment, which is embellished with decorative overlays on the canted corners.
The brushed satin brass-finished dial is set off by cast corner and center ornaments, a silver chapter ring with applied brass Arabic numerals, and an astrological blue moon phase dial.
Mirroring the dial, the lyre pendulum is finished in brushed antique brass with a decorative antique gold-finished center disk. The brushed satin brass-finished and decorative bands of the weight shells also complement the dial. The pendulum is an important part of the clock and helps regulate the speed. Similarly, the weights are also an important part and are what power the clock. The middle weight powers the time and the pendulum. The left weight (as you're facing the clock) powers the hour strikes. Lastly, the right weight (as you're facing the clock) powers the quarter chimes. We've written an article on how clocks work for some more interesting information.
The lower front door features beveled glass and decorative overlays with matching shell and leaf designs.
Canted, reeded columns frame the case, offering intricately carved column caps with a unique scroll design and Acanthus leaf details.
The multi-tiered, Bombe' base offers canted corners and carved scroll feet with Acanthus leaf details.
Removable beveled glass panels on the upper sides allow easy access to the movement. We love the easy access to the movement because it is important for maintenance.
Howard Miller Hamlin Grandfather Clocks showcase the German Kieninger, cable-driven, triple-chime movement that plays your choice of Westminster, St. Michael, or Whittington 1/4, 1/2, and 3/4 chimes accordingly with full chime and strike on the hour. See our section on clock chimes for more information and history on these wonderful chimes.
Automatic nighttime chime shut-off option, which some people love because they don't hear it chime while they sleep. Yet other people want to hear the clock chime all of the time. Our experience is that the clock chimes are something that you get used to and will come to enjoy.
Adjustable levelers under each corner of these grandfather clocks provide stability on uneven and carpeted floors.
Locking door for added security.
Free brass Heirloom nameplate will be engraved with your name and special date. This is something you can send in for and we definitely recommend. These contemporary grandfather clocks can become heirloom timepieces if properly taken care of and the nameplate will add to the memory for future generations.
Free Heirloom Record Document with brass-finished capsule is included. Again, this is another thoughtful idea because this will add more meaning for future generations.
