Chime Automatic Night Shut Off
An upgraded movement feature of some chiming mechanical clocks is the option to select an automatic night shut-off. This feature silences the chimes of the clock from 10:00 pm to 7 am. This option is especially helpful for light sleepers and is more convenient than always manually silencing the clock when you want the chimes off.
How do you know if your clock has ANSO (automatic night shut-off)? The product description should note this feature but you can also look for the selector lever, which may be on the front of the dial for grandfather clocks and wall clocks or in the back of the movement for many mantel clocks.
Spedific ANSO Hermle clocks include the Bergamo, Clarke, Debden, Amelia, Carrington and Abbot.
